der alt und gelähmt ist, und ess' mit ihm:
das freut den alten Mann.
Und Nachmittag werd' ich Ihm einen Lauffer schicken,
Quinquin, und sagen lassen, ob ich in den Prater fahr'.
Und wenn ich fahr' und Er hat Lust,
so wird Er auch in den Prater kommen
und neben meinem Wagen reiten.

I now must go to church,
and visit my dear uncle Greifenklau,
who's old and bedridden, and dine with him:
it will please the old man much.
Then to your house I'll send a courier,
Mignon, and he will tell you whether I shall go to the Prater;
and if I drive, and if you please,
you will meet me in the Prater,
riding beside my carriage.
